It’s been quite some time since I posted on this blog. Spring arrived…amen! With it, however, came a lot of yard work and other seasonal chores that left very little time for much else. Now that the majority of that work is behind, I am taking a break to write this post.
In over twenty years of making jewelry, I’ve designed numerous pieces for gifts, many of which were intended to carry a special sentiment for the wearer. The most touching of these are are four sets of necklaces and bracelets I recently completed for a friend. She and her family had been trying to cope with the loss of a young, beautiful angel and the jewelry would help to honor her memory.
She gave me several strands of beads and four stunning purple agate focal beads to work with. The following pictures are of the resulting pieces.
For the sister, a purple agate heart necklace with black leather cord and a silver floral bangle bracelet –
For the aunt, a large agate teardrop necklace with agate and glass stones, silver components and a coordinating bracelet –
For the grandmother, an asymmetrical heart suspended from a copper wire wrapped bail, with purple leather cord and agate stones. The bracelet consists of agate stones and hand forged copper components –
For the mother, a purple agate butterfly necklace and bracelet, both accented with brightly colored glass beads and heat patina’d copper wire –
There is nothing more rewarding than doing something that makes a positive impact for another person. I am very fortunate to be able to make jewelry with a heartfelt sentiment.
What types of things do you do to make an impact?
