Who hasn’t felt blue every now and then? I attended college orientation for my youngest daughter yesterday. It was an exciting and enlightening experience; at the same time it made me blue knowing she’ll be gone in just a few short weeks. Sigh. What better way to fight the blues than to focus on blue…blue crystals, blue stones, and blue pearls that is!
They say blue is the most popular of all colors. I was never a big fan of blue, considering it isn’t as vibrant as yellow or as cheerful as red. I’ve been been making a lot of jewelry with blue beads lately and am finding it blends well with many other colors. Blue represents trust, responsibility, and harmony so I guess it makes sense…don’t you think?
A few weeks ago I found some very interesting blue agate beads and couldn’t wait to use them. The largest bead was perfect as the focal bead for a necklace. I added other cool-toned beads, some amethyst chip and a few crystals, all anchored together by copper wire. I topped it off with two flower beads joined together with woven steel wire stems.
Now who can wear a necklace without a coordinating bracelet? Certainly not me…
The next time you start to feel the blues sinking in, try pulling out those beads and make something magnificent.
